This deck for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO worked both with the script for David Fincher's film adaptation as well as the original novel written by Stieg Larsson. My tonal research primarily comes from evocative visual artists, such as Swedish painter Nick Alm, whose works evoke the isolated and eerie tones surrounding the Vanger family mystery and property; Annegret Soltau's stitched works reflect the feminine rage and disrupted identity that follow Lisbeth Salander as well as the female victims of the brutal murders being investigated; and Francis Bacon's horrifying paintings inform the story's male perspective on the cruelty and torture at the hands of Martin Danger.
