THE WIZARD OF OZ

a film based on the novel by L. Frank Baum

In this adaptation, I'll be paying homage to French cinema and the practical effects of early film as a tribute to film itself, just as the original WIZARD OF OZ film was a love letter to the medium with advancements in technology essentially becoming a character in the story. Using plot points and aesthetic tones from films such as THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN, THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE, and more, we follow Dorothee as she becomes bored of her life in the country and runs away to the 1900 Exposition in Paris where she is hypnotized into a world of dreams and learns all about the wonders and dangers of life, love, and technology in a rapidly advancing world.
